Our History

The South Shreveport Rotary Club was originally organized under the name of “The Cedar Grove Club” in February of 1927, and received their charter on April 26, 1927.  The charter was received at a meeting in the Woodman Building.  The regular meeting place was the Cedar Grove Methodist Church until 1939, when they were moved to Southside Baptist Church.  In 1948, the meeting place was changed to the New Cedar Grove Methodist Church.  Meetings were held there until 1963 when the El Chico’s Restaurant in Madison Park was chosen as the new meeting place.  Meetings were held there until October 1984, when the Sheraton Pierremont was selected. Following that, the Club met for several years at the Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club.  After a fire at Pierremont Oaks in January 2009, the South Shreveport Club began meeting at East Ridge Country Club at 12:00 p.m. each Friday.
